Camp Life

Units

CRS is divided into a Scout Unit for the guys and a Maiden Unit for the girls. The campers’ cabin areas make up the units. One night each week, the Scouts and Maidens have a special “night out” just for their unit while the opposite unit goes on campout.

Cabins

Cabins are divided into two units: the Maiden Unit and the Scout Unit. Campers stay in open-air, rustic cabins, giving them the opportunity to live close to nature. Each cabin houses up to 12 campers and two caring counselors. Campers sleep on twin bunk beds with a 15-inch clearance so they can store their gear underneath. Each week, the campers compete for the cleanest-cabin award by working together to tidy up their cabins. The winning cabin is rewarded with a special treat during Friday’s rest time. The quietest cabin in each unit is also given a special award during Saturday’s closing ceremony. Bathhouses are located a brief walk away from the cabins.

Activities

Campers at CRS are able to personalize their week by choosing five activities to participate in each day, Monday through Friday. With 20 fun activities to choose from, there is something to please everyone!

Program Theme Nights

Each week in a CRS summer has a unique creative theme to enhance the fun. This theme is represented throughout the week in skits, décor, and nighttime activities. Some of the past favorites have included Christmas, Olympics, Wild West, Never Land, Mission: Impossible, Safari, Around the World, Medieval, and Sloppy Sports!  During a week at CRS, anything can happen!

Campout

A cherished tradition of CRS, campout night will be a memorable experience for your camper! Each cabin pitches tents and cooks its own delicious camp stew over a campfire. The evening ends with s’mores and stargazing.

Flag

Campers assemble at the flagpole each morning and evening for singing, cabin reporting, flag raising or lowering, and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Each cabin has the opportunity for flag duty during the week and learns to properly treat and respect the American flag.

Camp Store

Each day the units enjoy free time at camp store. Campers are allowed two items of their choice daily, which are included in their tuition. At the store, located at the Pow Wow, campers get to hang out, talk, and play octaball and other games.

Dining Hall

Located in the Hall Lodge, our dining hall is a beautiful setting for the entire camp to enjoy meals together in air-conditioned comfort. Campers sit with their cabins to eat delicious family-style meals. The vaulted ceiling and the large windows on three sides of the dining hall showcase the surrounding outdoors.

Bathhouses

Our bathhouses are nestled among the cabins in each unit. Each bath house contains 10 individual showers, 10 sinks, and 10 toilets.

Passion Play

A highlight of the week is our Friday night Passion Play, in which the CRS staff portrays the ministry of Christ, His death, and His resurrection. This play wraps up what the campers have learned throughout the week in cabin devotions and Bible study.

Closing Ceremony

Parents are encouraged to attend Closing Ceremony—the finale of our camp week, held each Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the Pow Wow. During this time, parents and guests are able to glimpse what happened during their camper’s week at CRS. Activity awards and cabin awards are given out, and campers are recognized for multiple-year attendance.
